The main idea behind student-led conferences is that students are taking responsibility for their work and behavior. Students have an important role to play in communicating their progress to their parents. The goals of student-led conferences are:
To teach students the processes of self-assessment and goal setting
To facilitate the development of students’ organizational and communication skills
To increase the students’ self-reliance and self-confidence
To provide an opportunity for students, parents and teachers to engage in open and honest dialogue together
